My Approach

My approach with individuals and families in psychotherapy is tailored to the client’s needs. I spend the first few sessions gathering information about what brought you to the decision to seek help. We then work together to establish your goals for therapy and the changes you would like to accomplish. Many people are not sure what exactly they need to change, they just know they are unhappy and need to do something. That is OK. We will work together to figure out what is causing your distress and what needs to happen to help you to start feeling and functioning better. Sometimes the hardest step is reaching out for help.

About me

I have been a practicing psychotherapist since 2004. I graduated from Wayne State University in 2003 with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I went on to work in the Community Mental Health sector for five years, gaining experience working with clients with many varying disorders. I also worked in contract with the Department of Human Services, assisting reunification of families involved in the foster system. I went on from there to work in a group practice, doing what I love: individual and family therapy.

Specialties

I have post-graduate training in treating Postpartum and Peripartum (pregnancy) depression and anxiety.

I am EMDR trained and treat complex trauma and complicated grief.
